On Saturday July 16, 2011, from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., Mark’s Outing will host the 2nd Annual All American Burger Festival in the heart of the city’s East-Town Entertainment District less than three blocks away from Historic Sunset Station and minutes away from downtown. Anticipated attendance for this year’s hamburger festival is 3,000 – 6,000 people.
With the support of Councilwoman Ivy Taylor, the goal of the All-American Burger Festival is to assist in the revitalization of the east side drawing more consumers east of downtown San Antonio. The festival also seeks to draw awareness to the BRAC project and help raise scholarship money for District 2 high school graduates and St. Philips College students. The 2010 scholarship winners were Hali Myrick and Joshua Dennis.
This free-to-attend outdoor street party will feature a Burger Cook-off between Mayor Julian Castro and County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson. With the All-American Burger Eating Contest, a KIDZONE and abundant food and drink, the All-American Burger Festival seeks to attract a diverse audience that includes burger-eating connoisseurs as well as affluent art and music enthusiasts.
St Philips College Culinary Arts Department and the Culinary Institute of America, San Antonio will be honored at the festival for their commitment to excellence in the food industry. San Antonio area restaurants and individuals have the opportunity to battle in a cook-off for the title of “Bexar County’s Ultimate Burger.” Winners receive a trophy and bragging rights for one year.
This year’s All-American Burger Festival promises to be one of the most spectacular event of the year.
